This game was a carbon copy of the Tuesday game against the Canucks.. The Hawk’s had a slow start and the Jets were flying. Hawk starter Ben Thorlakson weathered the storm keeping his team mates in the contest. Eventually the Hawks would get some wind under their wings and make quite a game of it. Just like Tuesday, glorious scoring opportunities were squandered and when the boys adjusted their sights, Jet tender, Hunter Ploszay, was there to thwart the attack. The club is going through some adverse times, this was their sixth loss in their last 10 games and to be candid, they probably deserved a better fate in 4 of those set backs. The work ethic and effort is there, they just need a break here or there to get the ship righted. Another positive note is that, despite this funk that we are in, no team appears to be able to run away and hide. We may have lost some battles but the war is far from over.
The Jets would open the scoring at the 17:25 mark of the opening frame on the PP, giving the visitors an early lead which would hold up until Zach Heisinger would knot the affair up at one with only 3 ticks remaining on the second period clock with assists going to JP Lovell and Shawn Pachet. It took all of 29 seconds in the third period for the Jets to regain their lead but the Hawks, courtesy of a Reg Bowles marker with help from Quinn Werbowski and Cam Petras. It looked like this one could be heading to OT but a shot heading to the corner of the rink would deflect off a skate and find an open area in the Hawk’s net at 18:20 giving the Jets the all important two points.
Ben Thorlakson was solid in goal for the Hawks stopping 36 of the 39 shots fired his way. The Hawks directed 31 pucks towards the Jet net. The PP continues to be a puzzle, converting on only 1 of 6 attempts. The PK went 4 for 5.
Up next for the Hawks is a game with the hottest team in the MM, the Raiders JHC,  who have won 8 of their last 10 games. They invade the Eric Coy on Friday, Dec. 9th looking to pillage two points. Game time is set for 7:30 p.m., hope to see you out!!
