HAWKS HALT CANUCKS WINNING STREAK

Hawks vs St James
Your Hawks soared into the Civic Centre last night and extinguished the hottest team in the MM by a 4 – 1 margin. The big question on everyone’s mind was where was this team on Sunday in Ft. Garry?  I don’t think there is any doubt that when these Hawks put their minds to the task at hand and take care of their bodies the night prior to a game, they WILL compete with anyone.  We have seen this scenario all season and with only 12 games remaining and first place still a possibility, it is hoped the guys will realize that fact too.  They can win this whole thing, the ball is in their court. They do control their own destiny.
The Hawks came out of the gate flying.  They had a 3 goal lead after the first 20 minutes compliments of Cole Benediktson, Tyler Bannatyne and Alex Hollyoake.  The second period was score less and at the 5 minute mark of the third period, Benediktson would score his second of the game to put the Hawks on top by four.  The Canucks would score on the PP to erase the goose egg but that would be as close as it would get.
Earning assists on the night were Cale Timlick, Cody Groen, Ryan Hutton, Cory Yeroschak, Shane Kustra-Nelson, Michael Lorange and Shawn Pachet with a pair. Ben Thorlakson looked sharp turning aside 31 of the 32 shots the Canucks directed his way.  Hawks were 1 for 2 on the PP and 4 for 5 on the PK.
A Twister from Pembina Valley blows into the Coy on Sunday, Jan. 31st, batten down the hatches as this promises to be a battle of epic proportion with second place on the line. Puck drop is 7:30 p.m.
