Hawks prevail in shootout!

The Hawks won their third consecutive game but it wasn’t easy.  You knew, because of the result of their game in Stonewall on Friday, that it was going to be a fired up Canucks teams that the Hawks would be facing and it was.  The game was back and forth all night long with both teams having opportunities to light up the lamp on numerous occasions.
The only goal of the first two periods was by the Canucks.  The Hawks would tie it up early in the third and shortly there after, the Canucks would regain the lead.  Hawks would score two quick ones to take a 3 to 2 lead but the Canucks would send the game into OT with only less than 4 minutes to play.  OT began with the Hawks a man down and would resolve nothing.  The Hawks would out score the Canucks by a 2 – 1 margin in the shoot out enabling them to exit the Civic Centre with a very valuable two points.
Leading the Hawk offence on this night would be Ryan Hutton with a pair and an assist.  Tyler Morwick chipped in with a goal and a helper and the other Hawk goal scorer was Cory Yeroschak with his eleventh of the season. Earning assists were CaleTimlick, Shawn Pachet and Tyson Bannatyne.
Ben Thorlakson turned aside 28 of the 31 shots directed his way to earn his seventh victory of the year. Hawks were 0 for one on the PP and were successful in killing both Canuck PP opportunities.
Hawks next appearance is scheduled for Friday, Nov. 27 at the 7 Oaks Ice Plex and the opponent will be the first place Raiders. Puck drops at 7:30 P.M.
