A thriller in Morris

On Sunday afternoon, your Hawks ventured down Hwy. 75 to Morris for an encounter with the Twisters.  With the standings as tight as they are, this was an important game to both teams and they played as if it was the seventh game of a playoff series.  This was arguably one of the best games of the season.  It was end to end action all the way through.  Both teams finished their checks and worked hard.  Both goalies, Gavin Klassen for the Twisters and Andrew Derwin for the Hawks, frustrated shooters all afternoon with their strong performances between the pipes.

Unfortunately for the Hawks, Twister sniper Colin Grenier ripped a shot from the slot in the first period that eluded Derwin and as it turned out, was the only goal of the game.

Twisters 1 – Hawks 0
From my perch, this was one of those games that the Hawks probably deserved a better fate, but it wasn’t meant to be.  Sometimes you just have to take your hat off to the victor!
Next up is a visit to the Coy by the River East Royal Knights.  Puck drops at 7:30, hope to see you there.
