Graduating Players

Hawks President Club 2019

Riley Gilmore and Ben Thorlakson are two players that were faces of the franchise during their careers as Charleswood Hawks.  Friday night we were proud to honor them as graduating players and induct them in the Hawks President Club.

Hawks President, Stephen George, presenting Ben and Riley with their plaques.

Ben Thorlakson

For 4 years Ben looked after the net for the Hawks.  He played a total of 104 regular season games, just shy of 6300 minutes played.  He has a career GAA under 3, and a save percentage above 900, while winning 64 games.  Ben was named a 1st team league all star in 2015/16, and was always regarded as one of the top goaltenders in the MMJHL.  The success of the Hawks ran through him as an 18 year old and that remained consistent throughout his successful career.

Riley Gilmore

Riley was an imposing player as a 4 year defenceman for the Hawks.  To say he got better as his career went on would be a major understatement as he was named a 2nd team all star in 2016/17, and a 1st team all star the following season.  Riley played a total of 170 regular season games, contributing 70 points over the course of his career.  There wasn’t a role Riley didn’t excel in on the ice, and was a model of the Hawks organization off the ice.  Riley was an assistant captain in his 21 year old season, and his leadership was a big part of the Hawks success.

Both of these players have been irreplaceable and it is an honor to have them both take their place as a part of the Presidents Club for the Charleswood Hawks.  Handing out graduating player plaques to Ben and Riley is Hawks President Stephen George congratulations to both players!
