Hawks look to Continue Winning

The season series between us and the St. Vital Victorias was 2-1 for St. Vital, so Thursday night was a chance for us to even up the series as we faced off on their home ice.

It didn’t take long to get ourselves on the score sheet as Max Gardiner would find the back of the net with the assist going to Mitch Justl. While we out shot St. Vital 13-7, the first period would end in a 1-0 lead for us.

The 2nd period saw shots go 14-7 for St. Vital, and they would also find the back of our net twice, early in the frame to go up 2-1. We weren’t about to let off though, as Sam Maxwell would get his first as a Hawk to even things up at 2 a piece! Congratulations Sam. Keep ’em coming! The goal came at 7:01 of the period with the assist going to Joben Smith and Nate Roffey.

With just over 2 minutes left in the 2nd, St. Vital would get one more goal to end 40 minutes of hockey in a 3-2 lead for them. While the 3rd period once again favored us on the shot clock, we could just not solve St. Vital’s goalie to tie things back up. Ryan Hall would turn away every shot he faced in the 3rd as well, making it a final score of 3-2 for St. Vital.

We now look to finish up our January schedule with a game at home this coming Sunday, January 27th, against the St. James Canucks. We have had this game circled on our calendars for some time now as we will be celebrating a great man by raising Wayne’s banner prior to the game on Sunday. The ceremony begins at 7 pm so be sure to get there early as we anticipate a full barn on Sunday.
