Starting the new year off right

Last night your Charleswood Hawks started the new calendar year off by heading out on the road to take on the Royal Knights. Your Hawks led the season series between these 2 clubs and we looked to continue that streak.

The first 20 minutes was an evenly matched event as shots were 15-14 for the Knights, but Charleswood would be the one to come out on top in the first as Mitch Justl – with the assist from Matt Lawrence – would find the back of the net at the half way mark of the period.

Even though the shots favored the Knights in the 2nd frame, your Hawks took charge of the game! Tanner Mulligan – with the assist from Austin Hesselbart – would score his first of the season at 1:58 into the period. Congratulations Tanner!

At 7:02 of the frame, Spencer Ferbers would find the net with the assist going to Joben Smith. Joben Smith – with the assist from Cam Petras – would also score at 13:04 of the frame to put your Hawks up 4-0 after 40 minutes of play.

River East would get one back in the 3rd but it wasn’t enough as your Hawks held on for a final 4-1 score, starting the new calendar year off on the right foot.

It’s time to take that momentum into our next game as we host the Pembina Valley Twisters this coming Tuesday January 8th. Puck drops at 8pm. We hope to see you all there to cheer on your boys.
