No Luck against the Canucks

Your Charleswood Hawks took a short drive to St James last night to take on the Canucks with the hopes of extending our winning streak to 4, while the Canucks were looking to extend their streak to 3 after coming off a tight game in Stonewall earlier this week. The last 2 meetings have been decided by just one goal so this one promised to be a good game again.

Austin Hesselbart opened up the scoring on a power play at the 11:59 mark of the first period, with the assists going to Matt Lawrence and Joben Smith. St James would get on the board just under 2 minutes later, ending the first 20 minutes of play in a 1-1 tie.

While the 2nd and 3rd periods saw no scoring, there was plenty of action on the ice as Ryan Hall was kept busy, stopping shot after shot from the Canucks. The score remained tied at 1 a piece after 60 minutes so it was off to OT we went, where the Canucks would find the back of the net to end the game with a final score of 2-1. While it was a disappointing end to the game, we were able to walk away with a point in hand in what was yet another tight game between the 2 clubs.

It’s been a great week of hockey for our boys and now it’s time for a little rest until Friday when it’s another Hockey Night in Charleswood as we host the Stonewall Jets for the first time this season. The Jets are up 1-0 on the season series and we hope to even things up. Puck drops at 7:30 at Eric Coy. We hope to see you there to cheer on your Charleswood Hawks!
