Hawks Fly with 5-1 Win; Series tied at 1

2 nights rest made a world of difference for your Charleswood Hawks on Sunday afternoon as they handily beat the Railer Express by a margin of 5-1. The win was aided by leading scorer Shane Kustra-Nelson who was back in the line up after missing game 1. Quinn Werbowski got things going in the first scoring his second of the post season on the powerplay with the helpers going to J.P. Lovell and Reg Bowles. Then 2 and a half minutes later Max Gardiner struck to put Hawks up by 2. The second brought more of the same when J.P. Lovell earned his third assist of the game when he set up Mitch Justl from the point to put the Hawks ahead 3 to 0. Meyer Nell and Shane Kustra-Nelson added another pair of goals to make it a 5 goal romp heading into the third. The Express came out to play in the third firing 12 shots towards Ryan Hall who was outstanding on the evening with 33 saves in total. Transcona managed to get one 5 minutes into the third when Scott Morrison nabbed his second of the series, but that is close as they got folks and we now have a tied series. Game 3 is set for Tuesday night back over at the Coy with a 7:30pm puck drop – see you there!
