Hawks Fall to Railer Express, 2-1

Your Charleswood Hawks dropped a heart breaker 2-1 to the Transcona Railer Express on Sunday night to close out the 2018 MMJHL Showcase weekend. The Hawks looked great on Sunday night as they took the play to Transcona for large portions of the game, but unfortunately came up on the wrong side in this one as they failed to contain the potent Railer Express powerplay. The Railer Express got out in front in the first with a powerplay marker when Noah Skorpad banged in a rebound for his 20th of the year. Transcona moved out to a 2-0 lead midway through the second when Nicolas Gravel scored a seeing eye single that meandered its way through a crowd to unfortunately get by Ryan Hall. The Hawks finally got on the board in the final minute of the second as Meyer Nell dug out a puck behind the net for Dylan Zeke who went high blocker side on Connor Shaw (check it out below) . The third again saw the Hawks dominate as they outshot the Railer Express by a margin of 10-4, but were unable to get the equalizer.

jan14The loss is the first in 13 games for the Hawks who record drops to 23-5-3 on the season…playing in his 125th MMJHL contest on Sunday Dylan Zeke’s goal in the second gives a points in each of his last 4 games…the Hawks look to get back in the win column when they return to the Coy with the usual 7:30pm start time on Friday for a date with the St.Boniface Riels.
