Hawks Take Down Raiders in OT!

#25 Spencer Ferbers PCThe red hot Raiders JHC finally had their wings clipped with a 3-2 overtime loss to the Charleswood Hawks on Friday night at Seven oaks Sportsplex.  The Raiders managed to get out to an early 2-0 lead with a pair of goals by Kale Ilchena.  Late in the first Hawks captain Dylan Zeke dropped the mitts with the Raiders Devin Manness, which seem to wake up the Hawks and they came roaring back in the second with a pair of goals to tie the game.  Shane Kustra-Nelson notched his 10th of the season at 2:38 and then Trevor Szyda tied it up at 8:58.  Late in the second Raiders Assistant Captain Carson Rybuck was ejected from the game along with receiving a match penalty that the league will certainly be reviewing.  The ensuing Hawks powerplay early in the third was unable to light the lamp despite having a 5 on 3 for a portion of it.  Hawks keeper Ryan Hall only saw 4 shots in the third and helped keep the door closed to help send this one to overtime.  Then, just 20 seconds into the extra frame Spencer Ferbers scored on the first shot on goal to give the Hawks the W.

The MMJHL has no games scheduled this Sunday in wake of the 105th Grey Cup.  The Hawks are back in action on Tuesday night at the Coy as they attempt to derail Transcona.  November 28th is “Toonie Tuesday” where admission is just a measly 2 bucks to catch some great action between two of the top teams in the MMJHL, so make sure to join us at 8:00pm!
