Hawks soar over Twins, 5-0

On the strength of 25 saves from Ryan Hall and some offence from the backend, your Charleswood Hawks made it 3 straight shutout victories with a 5-0 drubbing of the Fort Garry/Fort Rouge Twins on Sunday Night at the Century Arena. With the powerplay being able to set up shop numerous times through the night it allowed the Hawks to control the pace of play with 66 shots on goal in the game while helping to contribute 3 markers. Noah Robidoux got the scoring started early with his fifth of the season at 3:21 of the first period with the man advantage. The second saw the Twins take another 3 minor penalties, which they managed to kill off. The Hawks defense corps put the game out of reach in the third, first with a Nolan Sekundiak wrister at the end of a rush up ice that beat the Twins Mario Fiorentino. Then, another powerplay tally on a beautiful one timer by Trevor Szyda setup by Shane Kustra-Nelson and Reg Bowles. And finally a wrister from the point by Mitch Justl with 5:28 to go in the game that was the Hawks third powerplay goal of the game.

The win is the third straight shutout for the Hawks Ryan Hall whose shutout streak now sits at 184 minutes and 3 seconds since the last puck went by him on October 20, 2017 in the third period against the Raiders…Shane Kustra-Nelson extended his scoring streak to 7 games with a goal and 2 assists on the evening…The Hawks improve to 9-2-3 on the season and now sit in sole possession of second in the MMJHL.

The Hawks return to Eric Coy for a pair of games next weekend, with their popular Digger night on Friday, November 10th against the Vics and then on Sunday the 12th against the Riels. Puck drops at 7:30pm both nights.
