It was everything it was slated to be on Wednesday night as the Hawks took their 10th straight with a 3-2 shootout win over the Raiders Junior Hockey Club. The Raiders jumped ahead early into this one, in fact it was just 3 seconds into the first with a marker by Cody Merritt. Lesser teams would have crumbled, but your Hawks did not let this derail them and managed to tie it up midway through the first with a goal by J.P. Lovell.  A little over 3 minutes later Taylor Opperman added another one from Riley Gilmore and Trevor Szyda. The Raiders Kruz Listmayer then managed to tie it up 3:06 into the second. And from there Ben Thorlakson was unbeatable for the Hawks the rest of the  way turning everything left, right, and centre away – he showed why he is one of the top goalies in the league as he turned away 42 shots on the evening including another 3 in the shootout. This one went the distance all the way to a shootout that saw Noah Robidoux the only scorer as he beat Kyle McHolm glove side with a nice shot for the win!

#1 vs #2 Live from the Coy on Wednesday!

Hawks New Year 2018The two titans of the MMJHL are set to clash on Wednesday, January 3rd as the league gets set to ring in 2018. The Hawks are red hot heading into this one with a 9 game win streak on the line that started with an overtime win against the Raiders way back on November 24th. The Raiders enter this one on their own 5 game streak that has seen them outscore their opposition by an eye popping margin of 28 to 10. The Raiders Carson Rybuck has been on a tear with 10 points in his last 3 games while the Hawks Reg Bowles quietly is on a 4 game point scoring streak.  This one is shaping up to be a dandy folks making there no better reason to break you out of hibernation mode. We’ll have the Coy nice and toasty thanks to our industrial grade heaters for the 7:30pm start that will make you forget all about our current cold snap!

And that makes seven!
